Zithromax

Zithromax (azithromycin) is an anti-bacterial prescription medication that works by slowing down the growth of bacteria in the body therefore making it possible for your immune system to deal with the infection more successfully. A history of an allergic reaction to azithromycin, erythromycin, dirithromycin, or clarithromycin may prevent you from safely taking this medication. If you take Zithromax anyway, the following symptoms may appear and will need to be reported to your local emergency center: hives, trouble breathing, rash and itching. Any drugs you are taking or intended to take are supposed to be reported to your doctor before you are prescribed a certain dose of Zithromax. The following medications are most important to mention: cyclosporine, digoxin, ergotamine, phenytoin, medications that suppress the immune system, dihydroergotamine, terfenadine, nelfinavir, and anticoagulants. Make sure you also tell your doctor about any medical conditions you have, such as human immunodeficiency virus, kidney or liver disease, irregular heartbeat, and cystic fibrosis. Mild side effects likely to occur at the beginning of the treatment include vomiting, stomach pain, upset stomach, diarrhea, and mild skin rash. However, these symptoms are most likely to go away on their own.
